About Pioneer Dog Training School

Pioneer Dog School has been running as an incorporation since 1997 as a Non Profit Organisation that is run by volunteers. Each week our volunteers organise classes and offer free over the phone advice to assist and maybe solve problems owners may be experiencing with their pets.

Our classes are run as pay as you go, each member has the opportunity to attended any “Pioneer” class held in any area as many times as they like. This seems to suit a lot of the Central Coast people as it has a more flexible structure to suit the everyday person.

Why Should I take my dog to Obedience Classes?

Many dog owners may experience problems with their dogs in the early stages of their dogs life, so with our club we offer advice to help solve any problems they may be experiencing and by attending classes, socialising their dogs.

With the laws we have today and the rushed lifestyle most people have, many dogs remain in their backyards with no interaction with other dogs. With this isolation comes a lack of interaction skill with other dogs and this usually results in dog to dog behaviour problems.

In regularly attending dog school or socialising your dog with other dogs this should make life for you and your dog a more pleasant so when you are out with your dog there will be no problems when meeting other dogs and walking your dog will be a much more enjoyable experience.

What can I expect when I attend a Pioneer Class?

Each class starts with people signing in and paying their class fee and getting their card stamped, then a lesson of half an hour of general obedience followed by a short break, we then have fun with the agility equipment often finishing with races and games.

There are many members who come as a regular social event, and as age is no barrier we have many generations who have made friends themselves as well as their dogs. Its great to see all ages talking and having a common interest.

With all the publicity dogs are getting at the moment people are becoming aware that they must be prepared to look after their dogs in a responsible way. Our club promotes responsible ownership by educating people on the laws we must abide by and how to care and manage their dog in a humane way.

We train dogs by positive reinforcement and our club instructors regularly attend seminars to upgrade their skills in the latest trends. By just attending our classes it socialises dogs giving them much needed communication with other dogs so that dog fights would be less frequent and possibly solve behaviour problems.
